A message from our founder:

Thank you so much, friends, for allowing me to enter your hearts through song! It’s such a blessing to serve you. More than anything, we want to create memories with you and prayerfully give more life to you through making you happy “ONE NOTE AT A TIME.
— Bertha Young Poteat

Our founder, Bertha Young Poteat, is a North Carolina-based talented vocalist who has been entertaining audiences since she was three years old. Since turning professional at age 19, her talents have led her from wedding chapels, to opening for internationally known artists to fronting her own band. Despite all of these tremendous opportunities, Bertha’s greatest delights are seeing the joyful reactions and happiness on the faces of her audiences and the hugs she receives after performances.

Bertha’s commitment to using her musical gifts as a healing source developed from experiencing her two grandmothers’ bouts with Alzheimer’s Disease.

“I would see how singing songs that they knew would make them so happy. I would even sing to one grandmother, and she would light up like a Christmas Tree! That showed me how much music could heal even when someone wasn’t quite healthy mentally,” she says.

Seeking more meaning in her life and music, Bertha sought counsel on how to use her gifts for a greater purpose.

“I woke up one morning and asked God and myself “what could I do for the rest of my life that I enjoyed so much that I could share with others, make them happy and possibly help heal the sick and give them a longer life.”

The answer she received led to the formation of Melodies 4 Healing.
